Communication
The ability to craft slide presentations that tell compelling stories and use both qualitative and quantitative data to educate or compel an audience to action. I have doe this many times in my career as a consultant and a non-profit board member.
The ability to speak and present both in one-on-one situations, and in group settings. Again, this is a skill that I honed as a consultant and an operator.
The ability to ask questions and listen. This is an invaluable skill that I developed as a consultant and an operator. I believe that it is important to not only listen, but truly hear what the other person is saying if one is to be successful in business in the long run.
Interpersonal Skills
The ability to build rapport with a wide variety of people. In my operating and consulting roles, I have spent time with a wide variety of people and personalities. I have found that I have the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
Financial Analysis & Modeling
Advanced financial analysis and modeling skills in Excel, including scenario analysis, pro-forma analysis, etc. The use of advanced Excel functionality such as VLOOKUPS and pivot tables. These skills were developed in my long career as a consultant and investor. I seek to make my financial models intuitive and user friendly, and to have them answer real-world questions.
Leadership & Team Management
As part of both my consulting and operating background, I developed leadership skills to influence the behavior of those I worked with. One of the hardest, and most rewarding accomplishments was coaching my family members and convincing them to change the way they ran the business using patience and reason.
Project Management
Project management skills including project planning, assigning work, workload rebalancing, meeting scheduling, etc. These were all part of managing consulting projects.
